Nestled within the picturesque Xiangxi Landscape Scenic Route in Xizhou Town, Xiangshan County, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, Xiangshan Conch presents a unique blend of industry and nature. Rows of solar panels are installed on conveyor corridors and building rooftops, lush greenery surrounds the plant, and blue storage silos harmonize with the sea and sky.

Recently, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced the 2025 National Green Manufacturing List, and Xiangshan Conch was officially recognized as a National Green Factory. This achievement highlights the company's long-term commitment to sustainable development and green manufacturing.

Improving Energy Efficiency Through Optimized Operations

As a relatively energy-intensive industry, cement manufacturing requires continuous efforts to improve energy efficiency. Xiangshan Conch has focused on energy management at the source by adopting an industry-leading roller press grinding system with a three-fan dual-circulation configuration. Through ongoing optimization of production processes, the plant has achieved power consumption levels that outperform national industry standards, while its off-peak electricity utilization rate has reached 99.71%.

Guided by the principles of optimization, replacement, and innovation, the company actively encourages employee participation in technical improvements. Since the beginning of 2025, nearly 120 employee-driven micro-innovation projects and improvement proposals have been implemented.

In addition to reducing energy consumption, Xiangshan Conch has invested in renewable energy. The company has installed a 1.37 MW photovoltaic power generation system and equipped its main roads with solar-powered streetlights. Since entering operation in 2022, the solar project has generated approximately 2.425 million kWh of electricity, saving an estimated 713 tons of standard coal.

Advancing Clean Production

Traditional perceptions often associate cement plants with dust and pollution. Xiangshan Conch has transformed this image through comprehensive environmental improvements.

The plant features fully enclosed conveyor corridors, clean and well-maintained equipment, and bright, organized production workshops. Through source-control measures and independently designed ultra-low emission upgrades for its primary dust collection systems, particulate emissions have been reduced well below national standards.

The company has also enclosed all material transportation corridors, installed additional dust collectors at transfer points, upgraded lubrication and gearbox ventilation systems to prevent oil leakage, and implemented rainwater and wastewater separation systems to further reduce environmental impacts.

Promoting Circular Economy Practices

As a resource- and energy-intensive industry, cement production requires significant material inputs. Xiangshan Conch has embraced circular economy principles by maximizing the utilization of industrial by-products.

Located less than one kilometer from a nearby power plant, Xiangshan Conch has continuously improved the utilization of fly ash, desulfurization gypsum, and furnace slag generated by power generation facilities. Since 2024, the company has further enhanced resource recovery efficiency through technological upgrades and material handling improvements.

Each year, Xiangshan Conch processes approximately 320,000 tons of fly ash, 200,000 tons of desulfurization gypsum, and 260,000 tons of other powder materials. To date, the company has recycled more than 10 million tons of industrial waste materials, effectively turning waste into valuable resources while reducing environmental burdens.

Its P.O 42.5 cement has obtained low-carbon product certification and has been widely used in major infrastructure projects, including the Shaoxing-Taizhou High-Speed Railway, Jintai Intercity Railway, Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Taizhou Expressway, Hangzhou Bay Bridge, and the Xiangshan Jinqimen Nuclear Power Project.

Building a Green Workplace and Eco-Friendly Factory

In March 2025, local kindergarten children visited the plant and were amazed by its scale, cleanliness, and beauty. Their reactions reflected the success of Xiangshan Conch's efforts to create a modern, environmentally friendly industrial facility.

Since many employees live and work within the factory community, the company places great emphasis on creating a pleasant and sustainable environment. Cherry blossom gardens, loquat orchards, bayberry groves, and citrus gardens provide seasonal beauty throughout the year. Birds nest throughout the site, squirrels can often be seen among the trees, and walking trails and recreational areas offer employees a relaxing and healthy environment.

The company also actively promotes green living among employees through awareness campaigns, tree-planting activities, and regular coastal cleanup programs. These initiatives help cultivate environmental responsibility and encourage sustainable lifestyles.
